This past season,
The Bridgewater Bears Squirt A team made an agreement. For each goal scored, they would have parents, grandparents, and friends
contribute money to a fund to be used to buy the team a special gift at the end of the season. They did not expect much but
as the season rolled on, and the team was extremely successful, the fund grew and grew.
.
The Bears squirts accumulated
an 18-0 league record and a state championship. The team marveled at how quickly the treasure chest appreciated and as the
season started to come to a close, these young players had a different idea. It appears they had a potential better use
for the money that accumulated to almost $700. They followed their hearts and voted to give the entire fund to the Special
Olympics charity.
.
A heartwarming gesture from a Squirt team that shows the maturity and
compassion of kids much older than 9 or 10. You have made the entire NJ hockey community proud of your generous and caring
actions. Hats off to teammates J. Vilade, C. Alfaro, M. Mastrangelo, B. Coehlo, Z. Godon, G. Bowers, G. Naritl, A. Minishak,
W. Bonelli, B. Norris, A. Meade, J. Richards, K. Mandel, G. Napoletano, R. O'Connor, A. MacPhee,
J. Kemp and Coaches Tom Kubek, Al Richards, and Tom Godon.
